Gumbo Base Instructions: Chicken Gumbo: Combine 2-3 products of chicken pieces. 2 quarts water or lightly seasoned stock, and Gumbo Base in 4-quart saucepan. Cover and bring to boil. Reduce heat and simmer until chicken is fully cooked. Seafood Gumbo: Combine 1 1/2 - 2 pounds of seafood such as shrimp, crabmeat, oysters, etc., 2 quarts water and Gumbo Base in 4-quart saucepan. Cover and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer over low heat approximately 30 minutes. Oysters should be added during the last five minutes of cooking. Okra, smoked sausage or andouille may be added if desired. For smaller cooking portions, use 2 heaping T. Gumbo Base for each cup of water with desired amount of meat. This product is suitable for microwave use.
