Founded in 1772, Veuve Clicquot has since lived by its motto, "Only one quality, the finest". Created in 1962 and launched in 1972 to celebrate the bicentenary of the House, La Grande Dame is a tribute to Madame Clicquot and a reflection of the Veuve Clicquot terroir, showing exceptional freshness, silkiness, elegance and minerality. The harvest of 2015 was excellent. Thanks to an also cool but dry summer, the grapes ripened in excellent conditions. Several factors were taken into consideration to make 2015 a La Grande Dame cuve in respecting tradition and the Houses quest for excellence: the exceptional quality of the grapes and most importantly a remarkable acidity. La Grande Dame 2015 is an exclusive blend of 8 historical Grands Crus. The cuve is made of 90% Pinot Noir (A, Ambonnay, Bouzy, Verzy, Verzenay) and 10% Chardonnay (Avize, Oger et Le-Mesnil-sur-Oger). The nose is delicate, fresh and aerial. Upon being released it presents notes of white flowers, jasmine and citrus fruits and then reveals sweet spices perfume. On the palate : the attack is clear and powerful. The cuve presents a beautiful freshness, energy and tension with mineral and white fruits aromas. Light notes of crusty bread and toasted almonds can be felt at the end of the tasting.
